The Lilypad started as a quarterly independent newsletter which ran for six years from Fall 1999 through Fall 2005. It was founded, edited and produced by Ian Mayo Smith, then Vice President of Kumarian Press, Inc. and was associated with the Frog Books imprint of Kumarian Press. It was made available in print form and as pdfs which were emailed to subscribers. Its purpose was to give voice to independent writers and poets who had something of value to say and a high regard for the truth but had no regular avenue of expression. Since then with the advent of popular blogs and the many and varied social networks, other avenues have became available to almost everyone with access to a computer, regardless of whether they have anything of value to say and whether they have any regard for the truth or not. Never the less it has seemed to the former editor and publisher of the newsletter and to Krishna Sondhi, the cofounder and former Publisher of Kumarian Press that there is still room for a rebirth of T he Lilypad. So they decided to resurrect it in a new form and TheLilypadLives web site was born. |
